▶ Play this scenarioThe story
Istanbul's cats own the city, and the Grand Bazaar is no exception. Legend has it that a hundred years ago the ruby “Eye of the Bosphorus” was lost somewhere in the bazaar. In an old coffee house a ginger cat got its paws on a scrap of a map: the ruby lies in one of three old locked shops. The cats want to find it and return it to the old master jeweller before the bazaar closes in the evening. But one of the cats is a secret Sneak: it loves a good mystery and quietly stalls so that nobody finds the ruby.

A bit of history
The Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı) was begun soon after 1453 on the orders of Sultan Mehmed II. Today it is one of the largest covered markets in the world: dozens of vaulted streets and thousands of shops. Cats are full-time residents here — shopkeepers feed them, and they keep the goods safe from mice.
